R'S SLIP UP
IN TITLE CHASE
The under 18’s fell to a rare
defeat this weekend as their chase for the Championship took a
knock at Rushden.
After seeing
off this weeks opponents 6-0 in the home fixture hopes were high
that this might be something of a routine performance, however
it proved to be nothing of the sort.
Joe Gallen was
once again able to pick a fairly settled starting line up. Chris
Goodchild was in goal with the defence made up of Billy Coyne,
Josh Ford, Aaron Goode and Lee Brown.
Romone Rose,
Matt O’Brien, Danny Maguire and Chris Arthur were the midfield
four whilst Keiron St. Aimie and James Folkes were paired
upfront.
Gillingham made the breakthrough
after twenty minutes when then elegantly named Paris Cowan-Hall
lobbed the advancing Goodchild and the scoreline would remain
the same for the remainder of the match.
Joe Gallen
bought on last weeks goalscorer, Angelo Balanta, and switched to
three up front in an effort to salvage something from the game,
Arthur hit the bar in the dying moments but it wasn’t to be and
Gallen will need to pick his boys up for next weeks game if the
title dream is to continue.
Defeat means
Rangers have slipped to third in the South East Conference
table, however we are only a point behind second placed Southend
and four points off leaders Gillingham with games in hand on
both.
Next week we
welcome Colchester United to Harlington whilst Gillingham are at
home to Rushden and Southend travel to Leyton Orient.
