NEXT WEEK WE'LL BE CHAMPIONS

The under 18’s took a massive step towards the league championship this week with a fantastic 3-2 win over Leyton Orient that had the watching Harlington faithful on the edge of their proverbial seats.

Joe Gallen made three changes from the side that beat Colchester United last week for this, the final home game of the season.

Chris Goodchild was back in goal with Andrew Howell returning to the defence alongside Billy Coyne, Aaron Goode and Lee Brown. Danny Maguire came in on the right wing with Matt O’Brien, Keiron St. Aimie and Chris Arthur retaining their midfield slots. Upfront Romone Rose once again partnered Angelo Balanta.

The game got off to a blistering start with the first four goals coming inside the opening twenty minutes.

Rangers hit the front with only nine minutes on the clock when a corner was poked home by Howell to get the lads off to a fine start. Orient struck back six minutes later but Angelo Balanta restored the home sides advantage with his third goal in the last four games.

The visitors leveled things up two minutes later after being awarded a dubious corner and it took until deep into the second half before Rangers finally put the game to rest when Rose belted home an Orient clearance from just outside the eighteen yard box. It was his tenth goal of the season and makes him the seasons top scorer.

The win moves us up to second place in the South East Conference table, just a point behind the leaders Gillingham and with a game in hand on the Kent side.

Next week The Gills complete their fixtures with a trip to Brighton, anything less than a win for them leaves us the opportunity to be crowned champions with a game still to play, provided we win our fixture against Northampton.

If both sides win then Rangers will still finish top if we take at least a point from our final game at Brighton on the 21st April. Any slip ups at Northampton though could mean the end of the title chase.
