JOHN
GREGORY
Ray was a beautiful boy. He was a fantastic person, with
a big, big heart. He was only 18 years of age and had
his best footballing years in front of him. He was
already a hero amongst QPR supporters and he had the
potential to go on and become a legend.
I remember he was the star of the show in my first
few weeks here. He scored the first goal of my reign
against Hull City and then notched a typical Ray Jones
goal against Southampton a week later.
He really did have the footballing world at his feet
and the fact he can't go on and fulfil the undoubted
potential he had is a tragedy in itself.
It's hit everyone at the Football Club really hard.
The players are absolutely devastated.
Ray was one of the most popular figures in the
dressing room. No-one ever had a bad word to say about
him and that for me says everything you need to know
about Ray Jones, the person and the footballer.
It's a tragic loss and our sympathies and condolences
go out to his family and friends at this awful time.
ADAM BOLDER
He was a great character, a very popular figure in the
dressing room and he will be sadly missed.
Words can't really express how we all feel at the
moment, but our thoughts and prayers are with his family
and friends at this sad time.
It is a tragedy that we are all struggling to come to
terms with, but we will pick ourselves up and play our
hearts out for Ray.
Every kick, every shot, every tackle will be for him.
He was one of us and he will never be forgotten.
May he rest in peace.
Ray was one of us. A footballer with a passion to
succeed for himself and for Queens Park Rangers Football
Club.
It goes without saying that Ray was the most gifted
player at the Club. He had fantastic raw ability and was
destined for a very bright future, both at Club and
international level.
IAN HOLLOWAY
It's a terrible tragedy, he was a great kid and a
wonderful talent.
It's unbelievable. Unbelievable. All my love goes out
to the family. It's heartbreaking.
For me, there's no worse thing for a parent to have
to bury your child. I am so sorry for them.
BRIAN BARWICK
It is absolutely tragic news to lose someone so young
with such a bright future.
Ray was a fantastic lad and a player with great
potential, he proved that last season with QPR and in
earning his place in the England U19 squad. The coaches
in our youth setup always enjoyed working with him -
it's devastating news.
JOE GALLEN
This is absolutely tragic. Ray was the real deal.
We found him playing in a youth league in Essex and
he hit six goals in 18 games last year.
GIANNI PALADINI
We are all shocked and saddened by the news. It's a huge
loss for this Football Club.
Ray had the world of football at his feet and he will
be sorely missed by everyone connected to Queens Park
Rangers.
Our thoughts at this time are with his
family and friends and we will be doing everything we
can to help them through this terrible time.
The QPRnet messageboard community came
together to pay their respects:
A life taken too soon.
Condolences to his family and all who knew him
personally...
RIP Ray.
RIP Ray
My
favourite present day player, condolences to his
family and all that new him.
Joe
I cant believe this has happend. RIP
Ray.
My heart
goes out to all your friends and family.
RIP Ray, a terrible loss. Deepest
sympathies to his family.
A terrible terrible tragedy.
I know
someone who knows his family and all he wanted to do was
play football. His mum is fantastic and kept him
grounded, taking steps to ensure he remained Ray first
and a football player second. He was chuffed to bits
when his mum told him that my youngest thought he was
his favourite player.
His family
will be distraught and my thoughts are with them today.
My
youngest (aged 6) has just burst into tears as I think
the realisation has hit him
Is very sad that someone so young and
talented is taken from us.
Sincere
wishes to the Jones family.
Aww crap. L
Shocked to hear this terrible news.
Condolences to his loved ones.
This is just unbelievable news. So sad.
I'm in shock.
Obviously,
best wishes go to his family and friends.
Just
terrible, terrible news.
RIP Ray
Just heard
about this. Terrible news.
So unexpected. So sad. My condolences to
his friends and family. I am in shock, he had such a
promising future.
RIP Ray.
Just heard on
local radio in Belgrade! Can't believe! Terrible news...
RIP Ray
I'm feeling a mixture of
and

I couldn't
quite believe it when I got a txt this morning.
I'm really sorry to hear what's happened.
Terrible news. Sympathy to his family.
RIP Ray, you will be missed, a hugley
talanted young player taken away from us so early, my
thaughts and prayers go out to all the Jones family, God
rest his soul.
It was with great sadness I received the
bad news this morning. Life is injustice.
RIP Ray
Jones.
I'd just got in the car a bit past 11 to
head accross to Burnley, and switched on Talksport.
I'd gone a
couple of miles before I heard the news about RayJ and
the match being cancelled, and was in such a state of
shock I'd gone another few miles before it sunk in and I
turned back.
Its so sad
when this sort of thing happens, especialy to someone
young wit that level of talent, with what should hae
been an amazing life ahead of him.
Thoughts
go out to his family and to the families of the other
lads killed.
RIP Ray
Jones
Heartbreaking and shocking news. It is
hard to believe it is true. My thoughts are with Ray's
family and all who knew him. He had the talent to
succeed, especially at this level...it is such a shame.
Another
sad day for Queens Park Rangers Football Club.
He joins
Kiyan in a better place...
Oh no, no no...how sad, how tragic, how
shocking.
Have only
just seen the headline with my sons and we are all a bit
shocked. It doesn't seem real.
Such a
young life taken.
Deepest
sympathies to his family and his friends.
Rest in
peace Ray.
I posted the following after Ray scored
the last-gasp winner at Cardiff last year. Thanks for
the memories Ray.
The
players looked well chuffed and took the time to greet
the faithful. Jonesy was kissing his badge, so hopefully
he is on his way to a deal with the club.
It's good supporting the Rs at the moment...long may it
continue!
Ray R.I.P....Cannot express my feelings
in words....only tears.
I second what everyone has said.
On the
radio it said he was going to be 19 next week and he had
only got his driving license recently. Such a shame
we'll never get to see him develop as a player.
It
definitely puts life into perspective.
RIP Ray
Jones
I think my
best memory is him scoring the winner at Cardiff last
season
R.I.P –
R.I.P Ray.
My
thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.
Life can
be so cruel.
What to say?
Shock and
great sadness, my 11 year old daughter phoned from her
holiday and was really upset by the news - and that
summed things up for me because we are one big family,
we are QPR.
RIP Ray
Cheers Ray. Thanks for the good times. I
will always remember
I always likes Simon's avatar from last
year, the boy was going to be a beast of a player. A big
hole in the club. not that it's important right now.
Feeing desperately sad for his and his friends family.
Just not right on ANY level. Someone so
young should have EVERYTHING to look forward to.
No parent
should have to bury their kid; what a shitty, shitty
world this can be.
RIP, Ray -
stay a hoop up there and let's hope the lot there are
still here play their hearts out for you for the rest of
the season (and longer).
R.I.P Ray Jones
RIP Ray.
E17, had
the same trouble yesterday. Very hard news to break to
the children. Still feeling numb now
Players have come to Rangers and been
transfered out, some have retired at the end of their
careers. Some have been awful, some have bad, some have
been good, a few have been legends.
Ray? Ray
is a Ranger forever.
My
thoughts are with the families and friends of all
involved.
RIP
I hadn't seen the tragic news until this
morning as due to family commitments I was out till
late.
I'm very
shocked and saddened over Ray's death and I send my
deepest condolences to not only his family and his
friends but also to those connected closely to those
other young men who also perished that fateful and
tragic night.
I met Ray
on several occasions and was always very impressed with
the way in which he carried himself which was not only a
credit to himself but also to his parents. I forget the
number of times I used to see him come out of White City
tube station and then walk in that languid and casual
way down the road just like one of us.
I remember
that I got Ray to sign a small photo of him in his QPR
kit from the 2005-06 season and he asked me if I could
get him a copy of that photo for himself, I'm now so
gutted and saddened that I will now not make good on my
promise. I hope you can forgive me for this one Ray.
A tragic end to a gifted individual who
still had a lot of life to live and goals to achieve.
You will
be missed by us all Ray
R.I.P.
I haven't posted anything yet because to
be honest this has taken a long time to sink in, what a
terrible tragedy, I feel so desperately for the family
and friends of Ray and the other people involved.
I was
lucky enough to see Ray's first ever game of the under
18's, purely by chance and he showed then just what a
menancing force he could be, you could tell we were onto
something special and the rapid progress he made was
testimant to that.
Last
season he stepped up to the first team and he weighed in
with some really important goals, Hull, Cardiff,
Southampton spring to mind. Who knows what he might have
gone onto achieve this season.
We'll miss
you Ray, thanks for the memories.
I would like
to say Ray you were obviously too good for this
world, that is why God called upon you. Even though
I didn't know you, when I heard the news on Saturday
morning I felt as though I had lost someone very
close to me, therefore I join Ray's family and QPR
in mourning this talented young man.
Not
only have QPR lost a truly great striker but his
family have lost a great lad and he has lost his
short life. RIP Ray Jones you will never be
forgotten.
Tom
Dobson, aged 15
Rotherhan.
As a Cardiff City FC fan i would like to
pass my condolences on to 1st of all Ray Jones family
and close friends and of course to everyone associated
with QPR FC . I was on way to our match with coventry on
saturday when i heard this and i was absolutely gutted .
He was such a talent and im sure he would have went on
to play for 1 of the premierships big 4 teams eventually
. RIP Ray .
RIP Ray
LurkR
Oh my god...I wasn't at home for a week
and I had no idea about what's happening with giant
RAY...
I'm in
terrible condition and i don't really have anything to
add...just what Davman said: what a shitty world this
can be
Another
hoop will join for the heaven eleven.......
The 31
shirt will always waiting for a last goal
Rest in
peace GIANT RAY..
What can you say? Tragic.
I any of
Ray's friends or family see this, I know that Ranger's
supporters everywhere send their condolences. Our
thoughts are with you.
R.I.P ray you will be sadly missed
Terrible terrible news. I keep thinking
about what it means to the club, but I can't imagine
what his family are going through.
RIP
Truly tragic
news, my deepest sympathies to his friends and
family.
Ray,
you and everyone who knew you are in my thoughts and
prayers.
Midlands Hoop
I was so sorry to hear about Jonesy
passing away and it is such a loss to all.
My heart
goes out to his family and friends and everyone at the
club who knew him well.
I would
also like to pay my respects to his 2 mates families and
friends who also died in the car crash.
A tragic
loss of life and a tragic loss of such a damn good
player.
I hope the
team go out and thrash Saints on saturday at Loftus and
dedicate the victory to Ray, who'll hopefully be
watching wherever he is.
R.I.P. Ray
- All of us Rangers fans will miss you
on behalf of all us swindon fans, tragic
loss for your club and for all the friends and families
of those involved.
r.i.p
Been travelling for work and hardly had
the time to go online...a friend told me about Ray's
tragedy and I couldn't believe it. I asked him to check.
It seemed impossible at the time. Still seems
impossible.
Reading
all the tributes and thinking of him and his family,
really makes me want to cry and the defeats, the
takeovers and all that are not that relevant anymore.
We'll deeply miss you, Big Ray.
There's nothing I can write that hasn't
already been written, God bless you, you'll be sorely
missed. Would have been great to see you playing in the
Prem in out shirt.
Still hasn't quiet sank in that he's
gone.
Such a
talent and a great guy.
Will be
sorley missed.
Thanks for
the memories big guy.
RIP
RIP RAY
Another
talent unfulfilled
rest in peace ray and look after kiyan
