Gregory’s initial deal ran until the end of this
season with the option of two more years if he kept us up, with that
accomplished the R’s boss has now confirmed he is happy to stay on.
Talking to the official site he said "I feel very
honoured to have been the Manager of QPR for the last seven months and
to have been given the task of keeping us in the Championship. Now that
has been secured, the rebuilding has to begin.”
Certainly no one can argue that he hasn’t earned
this chance, after dragging us out of a relegation battle we should
never have been in he has restored the determination and commitment that
has been missing in the team since Ian Holloway’s departure fourteen
months ago. On top of that he has made smart signings and produced
vitals wins, at vital times, to ensure the clubs survival this season.
His next task will be to rebuild the squad for the
coming season, ensure we don’t get sucked into another relegation battle
and take us back to being a competitive mid-table outfit looking to push
on towards the play offs. No easy task, but it’s a challenge he is
clearly relishing.
"We need to put some concrete in the foundations to
make sure the Club does not sink to the appalling depths that it has
done this season,” he told the official site. “That means making changes
throughout the Club, which will not always be popular ones.”
In other news today…
Rangers physio, Prav Mathema, will leave Loftus
Road this summer to take up a similar position with London Wasps.
The CPS have confirmed no further action will be
taken against the QPR youth team players involved in the recent fatal
incident at Earls Court tube station.
Normal service is resumed as Rangers confirm their
first pre-season fixture against one time local rivals Brentford, to be
played at Griffin Park on Saturday 4th August. |
