QPRnet.com
started life in July 2001 as something for me to while away the dull
summer months without football. Back then the site was called
QPR.uk.co, a few years and one name change later and we're still
here.
Back in the
summer of 2001 I'd watched a friend build a simple website and
wanted to have a go at it myself. I bought a domain and instantly
went for something QPR related and put a very simple website
together over the next few nights and never though much more of it.
After a few
weeks something odd happened, someone had been reading it and
emailed me. Strangely it never occurred to me that people might
actually read the site, I decided that if I was going to carry on
I'd better put some more effort into it!
Around this
time Simon offered to write the match reports and the site was
re-designed with more menus and features than I had originally
planned. It looked like this

After a few
months of running QPR.uk.co we were approached by Rivals to take
over the QPR site on their network. We jumped at the chance and
moved the site across in December 2001.

After a year or
so with Rivals and thanks to a fall out with the Colombian
government (seriously) we lost the qpr.uk.co domain name and were
forced to re-name the site. QPRnet.com was chosen as the new name
and it went live in February 2003.

In December
2004, after exactly three years with the Rivals network we moved
away to become an independent website once again.

As we entered 2005 the initial
design was discarded and the site rebuilt from scratch, we moved
away from a frames based template and instead used SSI's to give
direct URL links to every page. The forum was integrated into the
new design giving the whole site a more complete feel.

The next redesign came about during
the summer of 2006, giving the site a cleaner, modern feel.

As we approached the end of the
2006/07 season this design moved into it's next stage, as we
incorporate drop down menu's to aid in speedy navigation.

But we didn't like that one much so
in the summer of 2007 we changed to the current design which we
intend to stick to!

As we move into our eighth season
online, QPRnet.com now generates over a million page impressions
every month from over three thousand unique visitors. |
